In 2023, Jessica C. Ashley’s years-long dedication to mental health services, and accrued expertise in residential treatment and community-based care, culminated in establishing her own agency, JC & Ashley Counseling, LLC. Through this Virginia-based venture, the highly-experienced mental health professional provides a litany of psychiatric crisis-related services to clients, including those in states of emergency, as well as overseeing 10 staff members and marketing within the community, from the Department of Social Services and local hospitals to law enforcement agencies.

Ms. Ashley previously directed numerous mental health agencies, gaining a deep understanding of providers’ challenges over the last 15 years. Driven by her desire to be more hands-on in the field, she created an establishment where the owner was as involved as the staff, which helped it stand out as a new emerging leader in the industry. In just a year, the agency has become instrumental in consultations for other mental health providers and helping to manage their programs. She takes pride in her work and is committed to ensuring that her staff understands the importance of their role in the agency. She also deeply values self-care for her staff, as she acknowledges that mental health professionals are often overworked and stressed; she encourages them to prioritize their own well-being in order to provide the best possible care to their clients.

Backed by a strong education, Ms. Ashley has earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from North Carolina Wesleyan University and a Master of Arts in human services with concentration in marriage and family therapy from Liberty University. In addition, she attributes her success to the unwavering support and encouragement she receives from her family, colleagues, and peers. Driven by a strong work ethic and dedication to serving others, she aspires to continue growing and developing her expertise in the field of mental health and expand her practice to other states, with a focus on providing care to patients in Texas.
